2008 Cinco de Mayo Fiesta
A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Friends:
Thank you for joining us as we commemorate 24 years of the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta celebrating Family, Culture and Community at Tom McCall’s Waterfront Park!
The Cinco de Mayo Fiesta is a four-day celebration that attracts 300,000 people to Waterfront Park each year. The Fiesta brings to Portland and all Oregonians the beautiful colors, cuisine, arts, music and folklore of Mexico and specifically, Guadalajara, Portland’s sister city.
The Cinco de Mayo Fiesta is the largest multi-cultural festival in Oregon and is one of the largest festivals held in Portland. Portland Guadalajara Sister City Association’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta is among the largest Cinco de Mayo celebrations in the United States attracting thousands of people to Portland. The Cinco de Mayo Fiesta is a boost for tourism and supports our local, regional and global economies with hundreds of people who join us as guests from Portland’s sister city of Guadalajara as well as people from across Oregon and other states across our nation.
Unique to the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta is our ability to provide entertainment and activities for families and people of all ages. We will feature Pavilion Guadalajara artisans and jewelers from Guadalajara who will demonstrate their craft onsite and sell their wares. We have a busy and interactive children’s area and offer four days of high-energy fun entertainment.
On behalf of the Portland Guadalajara Sister City Association Board of Directors, Advisory Board, Cinco de Mayo Fiesta Steering Committee, contractors, sponsors and hundreds of volunteers, we welcome you to our Cinco de Mayo Fiesta 2008.

Estimados Amigos
De parte de Ciudades Hermanas Portland –Guadalajara les damos la bienvenida a conmemorar los 24 años del la celebarción del Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, celebrando Familia, Cultura, y Comunidad en el Tom McCall’s Waterfront Park!
El Cinco de Mayo Fiesta es una celebración de cuatro dias y atrae mas de 300,000 gentes al Waterfront Park cada año. La Fiesta trae a Portland y a todos los Oregonians los hermosos colores, antojitos mexicanos, arte, musica y folklore de Mexico y especificamente de Guadalajara, ciudad hermana de Portland.
El Cinco de Mayo Fiesta es la mas grande fiesta multi-cultural en Oregon y es una de los mas grandes festivales en Portland y en los Estados Unidos atrayendo miles de gentes a Portland. El Cinco de Mayo Fiesta es un estimulo para el turismo y apoya nuestra economia local, regional y global. Cientos de gentes que nos acompañan como invitados de Portland’s sister city of Guadalajara asi como gente del Estado de Oregon y otros estados de toda la nación.
Unico al Cinco de Mayo Fiesta es nuestra capacidad de proporcionar la hospitalidad y las actividades para las familias y la gente de todas las edades. Este año 2008 ofrecemos el Pabellón Guadalajara con artesanos y joyeros, que demuestraran su arte y venderan sus mercancías. Tenemos un área de los niños para que los niños se diviertan y sean interactivos y ofrecemos cuatro días de hospitalidad de gran energía de la diversión
A nombre la junta directiva de la asociación de la ciudad de hermana de Portland y Guadalajara, el consejo consultivo, el comité de dirección de Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, contratistas, patrocinadores y de centenares de voluntarios, le damos la bienvenida a nuestro Cinco de Mayo Fiesta 2008.
