April 3, 2008 – Today, the Portland Guadalajara Sister City Association (PGSCA) announced key activities for the 24th Annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta (www.cincodemayo.org). The festival, the first of the season at Portland’s Tom McCall Waterfront Park – and the non-profit PGSCA’s largest annual fundraiser – will take place Friday, May 2 through Monday, May 5, and is expected to attract more than 300,000 attendees.
In a first-ever Cinco event, the PGSCA will host a Quinceañera Fashion Show (date and time soon to be announced). The show, hosted by Arnett’s LaBoutique (www.arnettslaboutique.com), will feature young, local models sporting a variety of fashions straight from Mexico and designed specifically for the Quinceañera, a Mexican right-of-passage celebration for teen girls. Event attendees can also now choose from four stages of entertainment throughout the Fiesta with the addition of the new Guadalajara Pavilion. In addition to live performances, the Pavilion will also have a number of booths and installations focusing on business and tourism exchange between our two cities, and highlighting many projects by the PGSCA in Guadalajara.<<more>>
3 de Abril, 2008 – Hoy, la Asociación de Ciudades Hermanas Portland Guadalajara (PGSCA) anuncia las actividades principales para la Fiesta Anual 24 del Cinco de Mayo (www.cincodemayo.org). La Fiesta, la primera de la temporada en el Parque Tom McCall de Portland, representa el esfuerzo principal para levantar fondos de esta Asociación no-lucrativa - se llevará acabo el viernes, 2 de mayo hasta el lunes 5 de mayo, y se espera atraer a más de 300,000 personas.
Por primera vez, en un evento del Cinco de Mayo, PGSCA presentará una exhibición de modas Quinceañeras (la fecha y hora se anunciaran después). Esta exhibición de modas, presentada por Arnett’s LaBoutique (www.arnettslaboutique.com), presentará a modelos jovencitas vestidas en una variedad de modas ideales para la Quinceañera, una tradición y celebración Méxicana para jovenecitas de quince años. Personas en asistencia ahora pueden escoger entre cuatro escenas de entretenimiento al través de la Fiesta con la nueva adición del Pabellón Guadalajara. Además de entretenimiento en vivo, el Pabellón también tendrá varios puestos e instalaciones enfocando en el intercambio de comercio y turismo entre nuestras dos ciudades, y destacando los muchos proyectos por PGSCA en Guadalajara.<<mas>>
